  • 0

Want to play on a unique or community-created map? Installing a custom map on your Garry’s Mod server is quick and easy with Imperium Hosting. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Find and Download a Map

    • Browse maps from the Steam Workshop or trusted sources like GarrysMods.org

    • You're looking for a file with the .bsp extension (e.g., rp_anaxes.bsp)

    • Download the map to your PC and store it somewhere easy to find

  2. Upload the .bsp File to Your Server

    • Open your FTP client (such as FileZilla)

    • Connect using the FTP credentials found in your Imperium Hosting control panel

    • Navigate to the following folder on your server:

      /garrysmod/garrysmod/maps/
    • Upload the .bsp file (example: rp_anaxes.bsp) to that directory

  3. Configure the Map in Your Command Line

    • Go to the Commandline Manager in your control panel

    • If you don’t have a custom command line yet, click “Custom Commandlines” and create one

    • Find the Startup Map field and enter the map name without the .bsp extension

      • Example: rp_anaxes

      • Don’t use: rp_anaxes.bsp

  4. Apply the Custom Command Line

    • After saving your custom command line, click Select to apply it to your server

  5. Start Your Server
Head back to the main server dashboard and click Start. Your server will now load with the custom map you uploaded.

You’re All Set!

Your Garry’s Mod server is now running your custom map. Players joining will automatically load into the new environment.
