Welcome back to another Euro Truck Simulator 2 blog!
Today, we’re taking a look at something a lot of players want to do but aren’t always sure how to approach: modding your ETS2 dedicated server.
Modding has become a huge part of modern gaming. Whether it’s adding new mechanics, custom skins, or full gameplay overhauls, ETS2 supports a wide range of mods — and the good news is, you can use them on your server too.
Let’s break the process down step‑by‑step.
1. Adding Your Mods
The first thing you’ll need to do is download the mods you want to use. You can do this in two ways:
Steam Workshop Mods
Subscribe to the mods you want through the Steam Workshop. They’ll automatically download into your game.
Local / Custom Mods
If you’re developing your own mod, you can either upload it to the Workshop or install it manually:
1. Go to your Documents folder
2. Open Euro Truck Simulator 2
3. Open the mod folder
4. Place your file inside
Once your mods are installed, launch the game and open the Mod Manager from the main menu.
Make sure all the mods you want to use on your server are enabled.
Enable the Developer Console
To export server packages, you’ll need the console enabled:
1. Go to your ETS2 Documents folder
2. Open
3. Change the following lines:
Uset g_developer “1”
Uset g_console “1”
Save and close the file.
2. Exporting Server Packages
Now that your mods are active, you need to generate the server package files.
1. Launch the game
2. Press the tilde (~) key to open the console
3. Type the command:
export_server_packages
This will create two new files in your ETS2 Documents folder:
•
•
These contain your mod list and all required server data.
3. Uploading Mods to Your Server
Now it’s time to update your server with the new package files.
1. Log into your server dashboard
2. Stop the server
3. Open the File Manager
4. Locate the existing and
5. Delete or rename the old files
6. Upload your new versions from your Documents folder
7. Restart the server
Once the server boots back up, your mods will be active.
That’s It!
After following these steps, your ETS2 server will be fully modded and ready to go.
We hope this guide helps you get your setup running smoothly.
Keep on truckin’!
